Christmas Craft Fare
Well done to Transition classes 4 Diarmuid, 4 Deaglán, 4 Donal and 4 Doireann who have been fundraising for the Cork Simon Community and Hope Foundation for the last number of weeks. It began when Niamh, the Promotion and Campaigns officer from Cork Simon Community came in to speak to these classes about the relentless work done for homeless people in Cork and why this is such a worthy cause. The fundraising entailed selling hand-crafted decorations and refreshments at the in-house production of ‘Hairspray’. Following the success of this, a Christmas Craft Fair was held in the school last week involving numerous fundraising events. This began on the 8th December and ended after a successful few days on the 10th December. Christmas decorations, homemade Christmas baking, candy canes, lucky bags, chocolate marshmallows and hot chocolate were sold over the three days. A penalty shoot-out also took place with the impressive Patryk Osinski goalkeeping. Gavin Bourke, 4 Diarmuid, also organised a Fifa 16 Tournament which was a great success. The exciting week was topped off with a Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 11th December. Thank you to the teachers involved, Ms Rochelle O’Sullivan, Mr Brian Cahill, Ms Katie Guerin and Ms Helen O’Hanlon. Well done to all students involved for giving so much of their time to this worthy cause. Over €2,000 was raised for these wonderful charities.
