The Davis College Model United Nations

The Model United Nations (MUN) is one of the most popular extra-curricular academic activities worldwide. It is a simulation of the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council, in which students represent countries. Students write clauses and resolutions that will tackle, resolve or minimise problems in the areas of human rights, scientific advancement, ethics, aid, disarmament, politics, etc.
Davis College MUN began which is supported by Cork ETB, Cork City Council, Irish Aid and World Wise Global School began in the PE hall of Davis College back in 2014. This event was an enormous success to such a point we had no option but to move to a bigger venue in 2015. We are very appreciative of the support of Cork City Council in giving us the use of Cork City Hall.
Schools from all over Ireland attend the conference and this year we had schools from Germany, Spain, Portugal and Ghana in attendance. The beauty of Davis College MUN is that is a student led event. All aspects of the conference are organised and run by students. The day to day operation of the conference is carried out by Davis College students. In this respect it is a fantastic learning experience for young people. The standard of public speaking and organisation is second to none and it is a unique learning experience provided by Davis College.
